What does Oeko Tex 100 certification mean?

Oeko Tex 100 Standard 100 is a stand alone certification of fabrics or textiles. This certification entails testing textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at different stages of productions for presence of harmful substances.

This certification tests for presence of raw materials that fall into the four categories:

  • Illegal substances
  • Legally regulated substances
  • Known harmful (but not legally regulated) substances
  • as well as parameters for health care

The above four categories together exceed known requirements from any national authority. The requirements for the above certification, is that all components of an item have to comply with the required criteria without exception.

Sunday follows this standard for the top and side fabrics used in the manufacturing of its mattresses. Further, this standard is followed for Sunday mattresses as a voluntarily measure and not as part of a requirement.
